Have you ever called a client about collecting a past due payment, and hoped you could reach their voicemail instead of talking to them directly? (The real question is; Why aren’t you using an online billing solution like PaySimple? You could eliminate the phone calls all together.) However, I digress…

Of course, there is email and texting, but sometimes there is no replacement for the emotion, inflection, and sincerity of your voice.  You may want to provide your elevator pitch without interruption, leave a detailed price quote, fire a troublesome customer, or relay bad news that could benefit from allowing the recipient to reflect prior to responding.

Collect Payment Without Speaking to the Client

An easy out is to call during the late evening or other off-business hours when you’re sure that the other person will not be there to answer the phone.  When everyone had landlines for their businesses, that was a pretty good solution.  However, now that just about everyone has gone mobile, it’s much harder to pick a time when the phone is off or unattended.

The free slydial service has you covered.  Use it to go directly to voicemail on any mobile phone, without the call recipient’s phone ever ringing. (They may get a new message alert about a minute after the message is saved.)

Using the service is easy; just dial 267-SLYDIAL (267-759-3425) and then the mobile number you want to reach.  You’ll have to listen to an advertisement, and then you’ll be connected directly to voicemail where you can leave your message.  You can make the call from a landline or mobile phone; you’ll be charged regular rates for the call and nothing additional for the slydial service. (For $30 per year or 10 cents per call, you can bypass the ads and get access to other advanced mobile phone apps.)

Slydial only works when calling U.S. mobile phone numbers and you must have caller ID turned on to use it. (If you typically turn Caller ID off, dial *82 to turn it on just for the slydial call.)  It does not work with pre-paid phones, or mobile phones without voicemail, or those that use 3rd party voicemail —but you’re not likely to run into those in a traditional business environment.

Visit the slydial website to learn more.  And, the next time you need to make sure you leave a message, remember to dial 267-SLYDIAL first.
